It is important to understand that Sculptra is not an instant filler. Immediately after treatment, the areas may appear fuller due to the sterile water used during the injection process. This temporary fullness fades within several hours.

True collagen stimulation begins gradually over the following weeks, with noticeable improvement often beginning around 8 to 12 weeks after treatment. Results continue to improve over several months.

Most patients require between 2 and 6 sessions spaced approximately 6 to 12 weeks apart depending on their goals and degree of collagen loss.

Sculptra Pre-Care Instructions

Before your Sculptra appointment, it is important to follow all preparation guidelines to minimize bruising and support optimal results.

Please contact KALLOS if any of the following apply:

Vaccinations or boosters within the last 2 weeks
Pregnancy or breastfeeding
Keloid scarring history
Active infection requiring antibiotics
Blood thinner or steroid use
Chemotherapy or radiation within the last 12 months
Lidocaine allergy
Dental work within 2 weeks of treatment

To reduce bruising risk:

Avoid aspirin, NSAIDs, garlic supplements, Ginkgo Biloba, green tea, flax oil, cod liver oil, Vitamins A and E, and essential fatty acids for approximately 1 week before and after treatment
Avoid alcohol for 24 hours before and after injections
Arnica tablets may be used 2 to 3 days prior to treatment

Avoid tretinoin, Retin-A, glycolic acid, benzoyl peroxide, hydroquinone, and other potentially irritating skincare products for several days before and after treatment.

For facial injections, please arrive with a clean face and avoid wearing makeup.

Sculptra Post-Care Instructions

Proper aftercare is essential for even collagen stimulation and optimal healing.

Follow the 5-5-5 Rule

Massage the treated area:

5 times per day
For 5 minutes each time
For 5 days

This helps reduce the risk of nodules or uneven product distribution.

Additional aftercare recommendations include:

Apply ice for 10 to 15 minutes as needed during the first 24 to 48 hours
Avoid strenuous exercise for 24 hours
Avoid tanning beds, saunas, and hot tubs for at least 1 week
Avoid makeup for 48 hours
Use SPF and avoid extended UV exposure
Avoid pools, jacuzzis, and ocean water for 24 to 48 hours
Avoid laser, IPL, or skin tightening treatments for 2 to 3 weeks

Mild swelling, redness, tenderness, and bruising are common and generally resolve within approximately one week.
